Build me a sector landscape explorer that my strategy and corporate development team opens whenever we prep a market review, so we stop rebuilding the same market map slide from scratch every quarter. At the top of the app I pick a Crunchbase category and a geography, and I set a review window of the last 12, 24, or 36 months. Those three controls drive every number in the app, and changing any of them refreshes all three tabs. Keep the selected category, geography, and window visible at all times so nobody misreads a chart.

The first tab is the market map. Use Search Organizations in Crunchbase filtered to the chosen category and geography to get the companies, and Search Funding Rounds filtered to the same category with a round date inside the window to get the money. Group the companies into four stage bands: seed, early, growth, and late. Derive the band from the investment type of the company's most recent round, mapping pre seed, seed, and angel to seed; Series A and Series B to early; Series C and Series D to growth; and Series E onward plus private equity to late. Each company row shows the company name, total capital raised, the date and size of its last round, and the headcount range. Above the bands, show a summary strip with the total capital that went into the category over the window, the number of rounds, and which stage bands are heating up. Work out heating up by comparing capital raised in the most recent third of the window against the preceding period for each band, and show the direction and percent change so it is obvious where momentum is building.

The second tab shows who is consolidating the space. Use Search Acquisitions filtered to the category with an announced date inside the window, and list each deal with the acquirer, the acquiree, the price, and the date, sorted by date with the most recent first. Below that, use Search IPOs for the same category and window and list each listing with the company, the valuation, the money raised, and the date. If a price or valuation is undisclosed, say undisclosed rather than showing a zero or an empty cell, because a blank reads as a data bug during a review.

The third tab ranks the most active investors in the category. Use Search Investments scoped to funding rounds in the category inside the window, then aggregate by investor to show the number of investments, the number of times the investor led a round, the stage bands they are most active in, and the companies they backed. Sort by deal count by default and let me sort by lead count instead.

From any company row in any tab I can drill into a company profile view. Use Lookup Organization for the company details, and Get Entity Card to pull the founders, the investors, and the full round history. Show the round history as a timeline with date, round type, amount raised, and lead investor. Let me get back to the map without losing my place, meaning the tab, scroll position, and any filters I had set.

I can flag any company as a competitor, an acquisition target, or a partner, and attach a free text note. Flags and notes persist in Notion, because Crunchbase is read only. When the app loads, read our existing tracker database with Query a Database, or Query a Data Source if the workspace is on a Notion version where the database query endpoint is deprecated, and build a lookup keyed by the Crunchbase permalink so companies we have already flagged show up marked in the map with their notes carried over. When I set or change a flag or a note, write it immediately rather than waiting for a save. If the tracker already has a row for that company permalink, update it with Update a Page; if it does not, add a row with Create a Page. Matching on the permalink matters, since matching on company name alone will create duplicate rows every session.

A Save snapshot button writes the whole landscape into Notion as a dated page. Use Create a Page under a parent page I choose, titled with the category, the geography, the window, and the review date. Then use Append Block Children to fill it in with the summary strip figures, the company table grouped by stage band, the acquisition list, the recent listings, the investor ranking, and a closing section listing every flagged company with its flag and note. Notion accepts at most 100 child blocks per append call, so send the content in chunks rather than one oversized request.

A few details that decide whether this is usable in a live review. Format every money figure in millions with one decimal and a currency symbol, for example $12.5M, and roll the category total up to billions when it passes a thousand million; never show raw unformatted digits. Crunchbase searches page with after_id, so cap each stage band at roughly the top 25 companies by total raised and give me a load more control that pages for the rest, otherwise a busy category will hang the tab. Entity cards return at most 100 items per card, so page through Get Entity Card when a company has a long round history or a large investor list. Show a clear empty state when a category and geography combination genuinely has no deals in the window, so it reads as a real result rather than a broken screen.
