Morning team travel briefing with live flight alerts

Every weekday at 7am, post a single morning travel briefing to our Slack channel covering the team's flights for the day. Skip the post entirely on days when no one on the roster is flying.

Start by reading our team travel roster from a Google Sheet with the Get Values operation. Each row holds a traveler's name, their flight number or IATA flight code, and the travel date. Keep only the rows where the travel date is today, and ignore everyone else.

For each flight departing today, look up its live status with AviationStack's Get Flights (real-time) operation, matching on the flight number or IATA flight code. Capture the current flight status, the scheduled versus estimated departure and arrival times, and the departure terminal and gate.

Then post one briefing to Slack with the Send a Message operation. Group the summary by traveler so each person's flight is clear: who is flying, scheduled versus estimated departure and arrival times, and terminal and gate. Lead with anything that needs attention, and clearly flag any flight that is delayed, diverted, or cancelled, so the team can react before people leave for the airport.

Keep the roster modest and the schedule to once each morning. AviationStack's real-time flight data is available on all plans but updates on a 30 to 60 second delay, and the free plan is limited to roughly 100 requests per month. If no flights are departing today, do not post anything at all.
