Every Monday at 8am, turn fresh funding announcements into a warmed-up outbound campaign for me. Start by running a Boomerang Submit Crunchbase Export against a Crunchbase discover URL I supply for recently funded organizations in my target industries and geographies. Keep the Crunchbase URL, the row count, the account cap, my Apollo people search URL, my target titles, the Instantly campaign, and the Slack channel as configurable inputs at the top of the workflow so I can change them without editing logic.

Both Boomerang jobs in this workflow are asynchronous. They are submitted through the same requests endpoint and distinguished by a type discriminator, and they come back with a request id and a status of In queue. After submitting, poll Boomerang Get Request Status on that id until the status leaves In queue and becomes either Completed or Issue. Status values are exactly In queue, Completed, or Issue, capitalized and with a space. The outputUrl stays null until the job completes, so do not try to read it early, and it is a time-limited signed link that expires per outputUrlExpiresAt, so download and parse the output CSV promptly after the job finishes. Poll on a sensible interval with backoff rather than hammering it, and if a job comes back as Issue, stop and report that in the Slack digest instead of continuing with an empty list. Note that count caps at 300000 rows per export.

Read the output CSV from the Crunchbase export and screen the companies on two separate filters. First, ICP fit: keep only companies that match my target industries, fall inside my headcount range, and raised a round size in my target band. Second, and this is the important one, a timing rule. Hold any company that announced within the last two weeks, and only work accounts that are two to six weeks past their announcement date. The reasoning, which you should preserve: the optimal window is 2 to 6 weeks after the announcement, which avoids the initial noise of congratulatory emails while catching the company during active budget planning and vendor evaluation. Companies that are still too recent should simply be left alone this run so they get picked up on a later Monday once they age into the window, and companies older than six weeks should be dropped as stale.

For the accounts that clear both filters, run a Boomerang Submit Apollo Export against an Apollo people search URL scoped to those companies and my target titles, with email verification turned on. Poll it to completion with Get Request Status exactly the same way, then read its output CSV. Important setup note to surface to me: supply a plain Apollo people search URL. Apollo URLs containing a uniqueUrlId require a screenshot to be uploaded first and passed back on the job, and Apollo URLs targeting prospect imports or contact labels need extra list and filter URLs, so a plain people search URL keeps this running unattended.

Next, write a one line why-now angle for each account that references the round type, the amount, and the lead investor, for example a note that ties what we do to what a company typically spends a Series A on right after closing it with a named lead investor. Keep it to a single sentence, specific to that round, and usable as the opening personalization in a cold email.

Before adding anyone, call Instantly List Leads for the target campaign and build a set of the email addresses already present, so nobody already in the campaign gets added twice. Filter the new contacts against that set, then push the remainder in with Instantly Add Leads in Bulk, which takes up to 1000 leads at once and applies validation, deduplication and blocklist checking. Carry the why-now angle as a personalization field on each lead so the campaign copy can reference it, and batch the calls if the list is large.

Finally, post a digest with Slack Bot Send a Message naming the companies added, their round details including round type, amount, lead investor and announcement date, and the number of contacts found per account. Also call out anything held for timing, anything skipped for no verified email, and any export that came back with an issue, so I can see what the run decided and not just what it added.

Two guardrails. Enforce a cap on accounts per run, defaulting to something like 25, and if more accounts qualify than the cap allows, prioritize the best ICP fit and leave the rest for the next run rather than dropping them silently. And skip any company where no verified email was found rather than adding a blank lead, since empty or guessed addresses hurt deliverability. If a run produces no qualifying accounts at all, still post a short Slack message saying so, so I know the workflow ran.
