Every Monday at 7:00am, build and email my team a competitor and market news brief covering the past seven days. Run this on a weekly cron schedule. This is an agent workflow: it should search, read, curate, dedupe, and write the brief itself rather than filling in a fixed template.

Before it runs, let me set two lists and one recipient. First, my named competitors, for example Competitor A, Competitor B, and Competitor C. Second, a handful of key industry topics to watch, for example pricing changes, funding and acquisitions, new product launches, and regulation. Third, the recipient: my team distribution list email, for example team@yourcompany.com.

For each competitor and each topic, use Browserless Search Web to find coverage from the last seven days. Run one focused query per competitor and per topic, and keep the keyword lists tight, because Browserless caps how many web-search results it returns per query by plan (roughly 3 results on Free up to 20 on Scale). Prefer recent, reputable sources, and discard anything whose publication date is older than seven days.

Rank the returned results by relevance, and for the strongest ones use Browserless Smart Scrape to pull the full article text into clean, LLM-ready text, so the agent works from the actual reporting rather than a headline or a snippet. Skip results that are clearly off-topic, that are paywalled with no readable content, or that repeat a story already scraped.

From the scraped articles, write a structured brief. Group items first by competitor and then by industry theme. For every item, include a short headline, a one-line why-it-matters that explains the implication for us, and a source link. Only include stories published in the last seven days. When several outlets cover the same story, treat them as one item: keep the single best source and drop the rest. If a competitor or topic had no meaningful news this week, note that in one line instead of padding.

Once the brief is written, use Gmail Create a Draft to compose the email to my team distribution list, with a clear subject such as 'Weekly competitor and market brief for the week of [date]' and the brief as the body. Then use Gmail Send a Draft to send that draft to the team. Gmail here sends by creating a draft and then sending it, so always create the draft first and send it second.

Keep the email skimmable: use a header for each competitor and each theme, bullet the items, and keep every why-it-matters to a single sentence. If there was no relevant news across all competitors and topics for the week, still send a short note saying it was a quiet week, so the team knows the brief ran.
