Weekly executive KPI brief from your Databricks lakehouse

Every Monday at 7am, generate a short written executive brief from our Databricks lakehouse KPIs and email it to the leadership list, so non-technical stakeholders get the numbers without opening a dashboard.

Start by running a query on our Databricks SQL warehouse with the Execute SQL Statement operation. Pull the core business KPIs (for example revenue, new signups, and active users) for the last completed week and the prior week, so each metric can be compared week over week. Use the warehouse that holds our reporting tables.

The statement runs asynchronously, so poll the Get SQL Statement operation until its status is SUCCEEDED before reading the results. If it is still running, wait a moment and check again. If it fails or is cancelled, stop and report the error instead of sending a partial brief.

Once the results are back, write a concise narrative summary in plain language aimed at executives. Lead with the highlights and the biggest movers, calling out which KPIs rose or fell the most and any notable trends week over week, rather than opening with a raw metrics table. Keep it short, avoid jargon, and give brief context for the changes where it helps.

Send the finished brief with the Gmail Send a Message operation to the leadership distribution list. Put the reporting week in the subject line (for example, 'Weekly KPI brief: week of March 3'), and lead the body with the key takeaways. A compact recap of the underlying numbers can follow the narrative for anyone who wants the detail.
