Your weekly newsletter send calendar for Kit and Notion

Build me an app I open at the start of every week to see my newsletter send calendar. I plan my issues in Notion but I send them from Kit, and I have no single place that shows me what is actually booked. This is a planning surface only: it creates drafts and schedules, and it never sends anything, so the final send always stays my decision inside Kit.

On first run, let me pick my Notion editorial database. Use the Notion Search by Title operation so I can find my shared pages and data sources by name and choose the right one, then remember that choice for future visits. Let me change it later from a settings control, and let me map my property names there if mine differ from the defaults.

The main surface is a calendar covering the next eight weeks, showing two layers side by side on each date. Layer one is Kit: every scheduled and draft broadcast, read with List Broadcasts and enriched with Get Broadcast for details like subject line, send time and status. Layer two is Notion: every planned issue from my editorial database, read with Query a Data Source. Match the two layers on publish date. Kit list endpoints are cursor paginated, so page through using the cursor from the previous response until every broadcast in the window is loaded.

Make three things obvious at a glance, because they are the entire reason I open the app. First, empty slots: dates in the window with nothing planned and nothing scheduled. Second, collisions: dates where I have accidentally stacked two or more sends. Third, unbuilt drafts: Notion items marked Ready that still have no Kit broadcast behind them. Give each of the three its own visual treatment on the calendar, and put a short count summary above the calendar so I can read the week in one look.

From any Ready Notion item, give me one button that builds the Kit draft. It pulls the written draft with Retrieve Page as Markdown, then opens a preview where I can edit the subject line and the send time before anything is created. When I confirm, create the draft in Kit with Create Broadcast using the reviewed subject, the page content and the scheduled time. After the broadcast is created, write back to the Notion page with Update a Page: set the Status property to Scheduled and store the broadcast link on the page, so the planning database always reflects reality.

Let me manage broadcasts that already exist without leaving the calendar. I can reschedule or retitle an existing draft in place with Update Broadcast. I can remove one I have abandoned with Delete Broadcast, but only ever offer that action on broadcasts that have not been sent, because Kit rejects deleting a sent broadcast. Ask me to confirm before deleting.

Underneath the calendar, show the last four sent issues with their subject line and send date, read from List Broadcasts filtered to sent, so I have context on my recent cadence while I plan the next few weeks.

Treat the Notion Status property as the source of truth for the pipeline, with the values Idea, Draft, Ready, Scheduled and Published. Read the stage from Notion rather than inferring it from Kit. Never call any send action anywhere in the app: it creates drafts and schedules only.
